On behalf of the Mesquite Power Team, I am pleased to announce the Commercial Availability of Mesquite Generating Station Block 2, effective 0000 Hours, December 4, 2003. This milestone marks an additional contribution of 625 MW of clean, safe, and reliable electric generation for the Pacific Southwest energy market. At a total capacity of 1250 MW, Mesquite Power is recognized as the largest in Sempra Energy Resources' fleet of generating facilities.
I would like to acknowledge the contributions of the entire Sempra Energy Resources Team with special thanks to the Sempra Energy Project Management Group, Black&Veatch/Zachry EPC Team, Burns & McDonnell Engineers, General Electric Power Systems and Sterling Energy Operations.
Building upon the achievements of Block 1, we continue to promote our new standards in reliable energy capacity and assure stability to the western power grid. Integrity, safety and environmental responsibility remain the keystones to the enduring success of Mesquite Power.
